Call for Research Proposals: BRC Deafness and Hearing Problems Theme

The BRC’s Deafness and Hearing Problems Theme has announced a fast track call for research proposals aimed at developing and delivering targeted and transformative therapies for patients with hearing loss.

Awards will be made up to the value of £50,000 for staff costs and £5,000 for consumables.

Download the application form.

Applications will be assessed on their alignment to one of the Theme’s four strategic objectives (see application form), their scientific quality, their plans to generate underpinning data that would support further grant applications, and their potential benefits for NHS patients.

We strongly encourage multi-disciplinary applications that integrate expertise across UCL and UCLH in this field. Applications will be reviewed by a panel of internal and external experts.

Funding needs to be committed by 31 March 2019 and spent by 30 September 2019. The NIHR policy precludes funding animal research.

Successful applicants will be asked to submit an annual and final report on outcomes and impact of their BRC award.

Due to the nature of the funding, the turnaround time is short. Applications need to be submitted by 6 December 2018 to Kim Airey (NIHR UCLH BRC Deafness and Hearing Problems Theme Administrator) at k.airey@ucl.ac.uk.
