The BRC’s Oral and Dental Health (ODM) theme will be hosting an online launch event 14 July 2023.
All are welcome to the event on MS Teams marking the renewal of the ODM theme until 2027, which will showcase existing studies supported by the ODM theme and plans for driving forward advances in oral and dental medicine research.
Clinicians, researchers and patient and public representatives will give presentations on research in areas including:
- Novel diagnostics and therapeutics for oral and dental disease
- Oral cancer and oral complications of cancer therapies
- Multimorbidity of oral diseases and systemic disorders.

Oral diseases rank amongst the most prevalent global health conditions, affecting 3.5 billion people, and have a substantial negative effect on individuals, communities, healthcare systems and the wider society.
The ODM theme brings together the expertise of the:
- UCL Eastman Dental Institute, the largest institute in Europe for postgraduate education and research in oral health and disease, and
- UCLH Royal National ENT & Eastman Dental Hospitals, one of the UK's largest secondary health care providers for oral and dental disease.
The theme’s research is aligned to the most pressing research needs co-identified by patients, clinicians and stakeholders, in a bid to address and solve key challenges of oral diseases that affect people of all ages.
