NIHR announces 2015 senior investigators

The NIHR has announced the latest senior investigator appointments.

Altogether the NIHR made 18 new appointments including BRC supported Professor Mark Emberton.

Re-appointments included BRC Director Professor Bryan Williams and Professor William McKenna, Professor Catherine Law, Professor Glyn Lewis and Professor Peter Fonagy, all from UCL.

Professor Caroline Sabin from UCL was also a new appointment.

Professor David Garway-Heath from Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust was another re-appointment.

Senior Investigators are fundamental to the formation of the NIHR Faculty and represent the country’s most outstanding leaders of clinical and applied health and social care research. They receive an award of £15,000 a year as a personal discretionary fund and attract additional NIHR Research Capability Funding. This is then recycled straight back into flexible research expenditure across our UCLH/UCL partnership.

The BRC is allocating resources to support future applicants for Senior Investigator awards by providing help with the process of completing applications – the next round of applications is expected to be launched in May.

Full details of all new Senior Investigators are available in the Senior Investigators Directory.
