Taking research engagement beyond the hospital

UCLH and UCL researchers are invited to apply for a stall at a special research engagement event being run in partnership with Islington Bangladeshi Association (IBA) members and their friends and families

Researchers can apply for one of 8 stalls at the event and for up to £500 to develop an amazing interactive activity for their stall.

The event is a different from past UCLH research open days and offers researchers the chance to engage and discuss their work with people of all ages, many of whom may be from underserved groups. We are working in partnership with the Islington Bangladeshi Association (IBA) to design an event that meets their needs and gets people excited about research.

The event is being held in a venue IBA members are comfortable and familiar with. The BRC and IBA will co-design the event to feature a range of research areas including health issues members are particularly interested in. Many of the members do not normally engage with research and the emphasis will be on creating activities that are as stimulating and accessible as possible.

As well as the 8 stalls researchers can apply for, we will be commissioning 4 stalls and speakers in areas chosen by the Islington Bangladeshi Association.

The event is on Saturday 16 September 2023 12-4pm at a community centre, off the Caledonian Road in Islington.
