UCLH to hold huge research open day on 23 June

UCLH is holding its massive research open day on 23 June this year and we are now inviting applications from researchers to have a stand.

Last year’s open day was the first of its kind at the trust and attracted hundreds of visitors from the local community, patient groups and schools. The emphasis was on interactive activities and direct contact between researchers and the public. The day, attended by both the chief executive Sir Robert Naylor and the chairman Richard Murley, included tours and talks for schoolchildren, competitions and a ‘best stall’ prize.

We are hoping to repeat the success of last year and celebrate with our patients and local communities all the cutting edge clinical research taking place at UCLH and UCL.

If you would like to put your research on show in a way that is accessible and stimulating, please register your interest by filling in the application form and sending to Rosamund Yu at Rosamund.yu@ucl.ac.uk

This is a great opportunity for research teams to engage with the public and to cultivate a dialogue with patients and the local community. Engagement with the public and the promotion of choice and access to clinical trials is a key healthcare priority nationwide and is increasingly expected, if not required, by funders and as a part of research career development. This is a great opportunity to carry out public engagement and culture a two-way conversation between researchers and the members of the public.

Where and when?

The open day will take place on the afternoon of Tuesday 23 June at UCH in Euston Road.

Deadline for stall applications: Applications must be received by Tuesday 5 May 2015.
