Ewan McFarlane is currently seconded to the CRIU from the UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Science where he assists with clinical research projects investigating high blood pressure. His expertise covers many aspects of clinical research and ranges from trial design, data management, database design, data analysis and scientific writing.

Ewan supported the CRIU with the curation of data submitted for the CAPACITY COVID project - a European wide data repository that collated data on cardiovascular risk factors and complications during hospital admission in patients infected with COVID-19. Using this dataset, he has recently submitted his analysis in collaboration with the CRIU for publication, “The impact of pre-existing hypertension and its treatment on outcomes in patients admitted to hospital with COVID-19”.

More recently at the CRIU, he has been undertaking proficiency training in EPIC – the electronic health records system used at UCLH.
