Haroon Chughtai

Haroon Chughtai is a Research Software Developer in the Research Software Development Group (RSDG) within UCL Research IT Services specialising in medical image computing. He works closely and jointly with the CRIU and the Centre for Medical Image Computing (CMIC) to implement, maintain and support the usage of medical research data sets, particularly imaging data, across UCL and UCLH. This involves management and development of data management platforms, as well as supporting researchers in developing and deploying algorithms for data processing within these systems. 

His professional background is as a Healthcare Scientist - specifically as a HCPC registered Clinical Scientist - in the field of Clinical Informatics (Physical Sciences). Previously Haroon worked in the UCLH Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering department where he developed and supported software systems to enable healthcare professionals in their work.  

Academically, Haroon is a biomedical engineer by background having originally gained his MEng from Imperial College London. In addition, he holds an MSc in Clinical Sciences (Informatics) from the University of Liverpool. He is a Full Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM), as well as an Associate of the Faculty of Clinical Informatics (FCI).
