Mel is responsible for ensuring the quality of clinical research undertaken in the CRF is compliant with internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), polices and external regulatory frameworks at all times. She coordinates the necessary preparation for external audits and regulatory inspections and strives for the CRF to be always inspection ready. Mel oversees the Data Team to ensure high quality data as well as being an incident handler and named archivist for the CRF.
She is passionate about patient safety and data integrity as well as continuous improvement and developing a robust Quality Management System. As a CRF Wellbeing Champion, the wellbeing, retention and development of the members of the CRF core team is important to her.
Before joining the NIHR UCLH CRF, Mel worked as a Research Portfolio Manager for five years, which included study set up and performance management. She also spent three years as a Clinical Trials Coordinator which included recruiting patients into late phase trials, data management and study coordination.
