Conference to highlight importance of genomic data in tackling AMR

Researchers can now register for Antimicrobial Resistance - Genomes, Big Data and Emerging Technologies – a 3-day conference in May organised by the Wellcome Genome Campus.

This conference will highlight the role of genomic evidence as well as its role in the detection, tracking and control of antimicrobial resistance, especially in low- and middle-income countries.

Attendees will also discuss the role of vaccines in AMR and how bacterial genomics and metagenomics can be translated into clinical practice.

The conference is open to researchers, clinicians, computer scientists and policymakers with an interest in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) to discuss novel tools to identify resistant bacteria and how AMR data can be applied to clinical practice.

Technical advances in recent years have expanded researchers’ ability to collect huge amounts of genomic information on pathogens and their hosts, and a wealth of data is being collected in epidemiological and surveillance studies, including on the socio-economic burden of AMR.

Event organisers welcome abstracts from all areas relevant to the main themes of the meeting, for both oral and poster presentations.
