Launch of NIHR Transitional Research Fellowship scheme

Applications are invited for the second round of the NIHR Transitional Research Fellowship scheme.

The scheme offers between 18 and 24 months funding to undertake focussed training and development in order to develop specific skills. It is part of round 7 of the NIHR Fellowship Programme.

This award is designed to support researchers make a transition from one area of research to another. Applicants may include ‘hoppers’ eg basic scientists who wish to move into clinical research and ‘bridgers’ eg clinicians who wish to move in to translational research.

Applications are invited from individuals working in any scientific/research discipline or sector, within an institution sited in England, who wish to undertake additional training and development in order to be competitively prepared to apply for the NIHR Fellowship Programme (post-doctoral level awards).

The scheme is a personal award designed to buy out an individual’s salary costs and to fund an appropriate training and development programme, which may or may not include a research project component.

The deadline for applications is 21 January 2014.
