PPI workshop for researchers

Researchers can find out more about the practicalities of patient and public involvement (PPI) in biomedical research at a 1-day workshop on 12 July at UCL.

The workshop – with follow up workshops planned for the autumn – is for UCLH and UCL biomedical researchers and provides a practical and realistic introduction to the different ways patients and the public can be actively involved in the research process.

Sessions cover the different stages in which patients can be involved, identifying and addressing barriers to PPI, the kinds of support researchers can access, and how to make sure PPI works for everyone.

Researchers will have the opportunity to work on their own PPI plans. Follow-up workshops are planned for the autumn covering issues such as setting up a patient forum and working with charities and patient organisations.

To book a place, contact Rosamund Yu (rosamund.yu@ucl.ac.uk). UCL researchers can also book online via the UCL training booking system.

The workshop is on 12 July 2012, 10am to 4pm in room 432, 16 Taviton Street, London, WC1H 0BW

Trainers are Bec Hanley, director of TwoCan Associates and Derek Stewart, facilitator and patient advocate.
