UCLH and UCL experts listed among most influential researchers globally

BRC-supported researchers are among many UCL academics named in the internationally recognised annual Clarivate listings of the most influential researchers around the world in 2025.

A total of 66 UCL researchers are named in the list, which researchers who are judged to have ‘exceptional research influence.’

To be featured on the list, a researcher must have published multiple highly-cited scientific papers which rank in the top 1% of papers based on citations in the Web of Science – a global database of citations.

They are then assessed by an expert panel for evidence of community-wide recognition from an international and wide-ranging network of citing authors.

Researchers on the list are considered by Clarivate to be ‘1 in 1,000’.

Researchers on the list who are supported or have been supported by the BRC include:

  • Professor Danny Alexander - Director of the BRC Healthcare Engineering & Imaging Theme
  • Professor Olga Ciccarelli – Director of the BRC Translational Neuroscience Theme
  • Professor Sean Davidson - UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Science
  • Professor Perry Elliott - UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Science
  • Professor Daisy Fancourt - UCL Behavioural Science and Health
  • Professor Mark Hamer - Director of the BRC Obesity Theme
  • Professor Sir John Hardy - Chair of Molecular Biology of Neurological Disease at UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology
  • Professor Aroon Hingorani – Director of the BRC Cardiovascular Theme
  • Professor James Moon - Co-Director, BRC Cardiovascular Theme

  • Professor Mervyn Singer - Bloomsbury Institute of Intensive Care Medicine, UCL
