Patient & Public Involvement

Why get involved?

  • Research shapes the hearing services and treatments that are available to you and your family, today and in the future.
  • Your involvement will help make sure that our research is relevant to people with hearing loss and their families
  • You can choose to get involved as much or as little as you like
  • You do not need to have any previous research experience to get involved.

You can get involved in our research in a variety of ways such as:

  • Working with researchers to plan and design their projects
  • Commenting on and developing patient information leaflets or questionnaires
  • Joining a research panel or steering group
  • Helping to make sure good hearing research is easy to access
  • Reviewing research proposals from an ‘expert by experience’ perspective
  • Co-developing training

You will make a difference by:

  • Choosing new topics for hearing research
  • Improving the quality of the research by adding another point of view
  • Making sure that researchers ask the right questions and in a way that the public can understand
  • Improving the experience for people taking part in the research
  • Making it more likely that people find out about the research

We always welcome new patients and members of the public to help shape our hearing research. For more information please contact us at brchearing-research@ucl.ac.uk.
