BRC awards over £250k to cardiometabolic projects

The BRC has awarded over a quarter of a million pounds to groundbreaking experimental medicine research projects within the cardiometabolic programme.

By making the awards the BRC is developing some of the most cutting edge research.

The awards range from £44,673 to £60,000 were confirmed last month and go to five innovative research projects.

Projects funded include research into: Familial Hypercholesterolaemia; human tissue in vivo to investigate electrophysiological properties; vascular risk factors in the development of dementia; PET-MRI imaging in patients presenting with an acute myocardial infarction; and highly phenotyped stroke bio-repository embedded within routine clinical care.
