BRC awards £700,000 to neuroscience projects

The BRC has awarded over £700,000 to groundbreaking experimental medicine research projects in neuroscience.

By making the awards the BRC is developing some of the most cutting edge research.

The awards, ranging from £220,000 to £250,000, were confirmed last month and go to three innovative research projects looking at:

  • the use of skeletal muscle MRI as a way of detecting motor neurone disease progression
  • the creation of a platform for multi-dimensional characterisation of every patient presenting with stroke at the UCLH Hyperacute Stroke Unit
  • the use of novel methodology to visualize small misfolded proteins, thought to be the cause of cell death and spread of Parkinson's disease.
