BRC investigator wins top radiology award

BRC investigator Professor Ashley Groves has been awarded the McKenzie Davidson Medal by The British Institute of Radiology after delivering the McKenzie Davidson eponymous lecture at the BIR President’s Conference.

Professor Groves, Head of The Institute of Nuclear Medicine at UCL and a leading collaborator in the fields of PET/CT and PET/MR, was awarded the medal in recognition of his significant contributions to radiology and cancer research.

This award was founded in 1920, and is awarded annually to a medical professional, in memory of Sir James MacKenzie Davidson, a cardiologist, who was a pioneer in British radiology.

The title of Professor Groves’ lecture was ‘The role of PET/MR in cancer’ which was delivered to an audience of over 100. Professor Groves described some of the initial experiences and results from the first PET/MR system to be installed in the UK and only the sixth if its kind in the world.

BIR President, Professor Andrew Jones, presented the medal and certificate to Professor Groves.

Professor Groves said “I am truly honoured to be invited to deliver this lecture and delighted to receive this prestigious award.”
