Last chance to book workshop on PPI and improving recruitment

A few places remain on our next PPI workshop for lay people and researchers which looks at how actively involving patients and the public can help researchers improve study recruitment.

Topics covered on the day include:

Why is recruiting important?

What can’t the public be involved in?

Learning from hindsight.

The course is supported by Macmillan Cancer Support and run by Derek Stewart,  a patient advocate and activist with over ten years experience of involving people in research.

NB This is an exploration of how involving people can add value to study delivery and not about taking part in a clinical trial.

When: Monday 20 May, 9.30am

Where: Room 2.18, Chadwick Building, Gower Street, WC1E 6BT

The free half-day workshop will conclude with a tour of the Clinical Research Facility on Grafton Way where there will be opportunity to have a go at a range of interactive activities including: seeing ultrasounds of healthy kidneys and knees being carried out (using hospital staff as volunteers), taking blood pressure and finding out what is measured and looking at normal and abnormal cells under a microscope.
