NIHR launches 'Focus on Dementia'

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) has launched a focus on dementia research initiativet o mark today’s start of World Alzheimer’s Month.

Over the past two years, the NIHR has put millions of pounds of extra investment into supporting clinical research into dementia, which affects 800,000 people in the UK – a figure expected to rise to one million people by 2021.

The NIHR’s ‘Focus on Dementia’ website is aimed at the general public and highlights the pioneering work supported by the NIHR that focuses on developing better treatments for dementia sufferers and improvements in the quality of life for those with the condition.

The site includes case studies and interviews with leading researchers, patient views on living with dementia and advice on finding out about current clinical trials.
