Recruitment of first Crick clinical fellows

The first clinical fellows of the Francis Crick institute have been recruited.

Trainee doctors Dr Cynthia Yu-Wai-Man (Specialty Registrar in Ophthalmology), Dr Brintha Selvarajah (Specialty Registrar in Respiratory Medicine) and Dr Laween Meran (Specialty Registrar in Gastroenterology and Hepatology) will each carry out a three-year PhD, undertaking rigorous research training in experimental medicine.

The BRC and the two founding Institutes of the Francis Crick institute (CRUK London Research Institute and the MRC National Institute for Medical Research) are funding this initiative.

The clinical fellows will work at either the CRUK London Research institute or the MRC National Institute for Medical Research before these two institutes move into the completed Francis Crick Institute building.

The Francis Crick Institute will open in 2015 and house over 1,000 scientists in a new building behind the British Library on Euston Road.

Further recruitment of Crick clinical fellows will take place in 2014. These will be jointly funded by the Crick and the BRCs at UCL and King’s College London. More information will be available on the BRC and the Academic Careers Office website in due course.
