UCL ranked 3rd in academic-industry deal league table

UCL has been ranked 3rd internationally for academic-industry partnerships in a league table published by the Nature Biotechnology journal this month.

Harvard University and the University of Texas top the list of universities with the most industry deals followed by UCL which is ahead of the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge. UCL’s high position reflects the drive for industry partnerships and growth that the BRC is so key in.

The rankings are the result of an analysis of 387 public-private partnerships (including research institutes) in 2012. According to the journal, the analysis reveals cancer (70 deals) and infectious disease (64) as major areas of interest as well as diagnostics/pharmacogentics (68).

The table published by the journal lists 6 deals for UCL including the latest deal with global pharmaceutical company Eisai which funds PhD studentships in neuroscience at UCL.
