Call for research proposals: BRC Cardiovascular diseases theme

The BRC’s Cardiovascular diseases theme is inviting proposals for grants to support translational science aligned with the theme’s research strategy.

Awards of up to £125,000 are available. The deadline for applications is Friday 8 February.

Researchers can apply for:

  • Strategic grants of up to £125,000 over 24 months, for stellar research projects with potential for high-impact publications and large-scale external funding of £1 million or more
  • Excellence awards of up to £75,000 over 18 months, to enable research teams to recruit and help teams secure external funding
  • Small grants of up to £50,000 for up to 24 months, to add value to existing (or anticipated) grants that have a high chance of a strong translational research output within the current BRC funding round (until March 2022).

Awards may be used for:

  • Salary support for critical research staff, including staff employed to undertake skilled analysis of data
  • Research consumable costs including specialist imaging costs
  • Costs of specialist assays or measures including genotyping
  • Costs of sample preparation to make existing datasets better able to garner external funds (eg preparation of DNA from stored blood samples)
