Over £1m available for BRC III research

Over £1 million is available in funding for Infection, Immunity and Inflammation (III) research.

Applications are invited for: pump priming projects; enhancing/speeding up delivery of existing projects/overcoming specific hurdles; recruitment; and infrastructure. They must relate to one of the strategic priority areas for the III programme.

The strategic areas of the BRC III programme are:

  • fibrosis and inflammation therapies
  • gene and cell therapy
  • new therapies for inflammatory arthritis
  • infectious diseases prediction and stratification
  • novel therapies for protein folding disorders.

Projects must have the potential to deliver measurable outputs by the end of 2016. Such outputs include publications, further funding leveraged, trials opened and patients recruited and/or significant recruitment. Therefore it is important the project is 'ready to go' with clear deliverables.

If you are already in receipt of BRC funding, an update of outputs relating to this will be requested first.

Funding period: September 2014-March 2017.

Deadline for applications: 5pm, Friday 4 July 2014

Announcements will be made in early September 2014.

There are no upper or lower limits to funding applications. Applications will be reviewed by the III programme board and an external reviewer.
