UCLH Managing Director of Research appointed Chair of NHS research leadership body

Managing Director of Research at UCLH and UCL Dr Nick McNally has been appointed Chair of UK Research & Development (UKRD), a membership organisation of over 200 R&D Directors and Senior Leaders from across the NHS.

UKRD enables high quality research, develops and shares best practice and clear standards in R&D leadership, and helps ensure financial sustainability of NHS R&D through its support of hospital Trusts and commercial partners.

Nick was involved in setting up UKRD five years ago and has been involved in the organisation since the beginning as a member of the leadership team.

He is already co-Chair of a UKRD inclusion working group which works to embed equality, diversity and inclusion in NHS research.

At UCLH and UCL Nick works closely with Professor Bryan Williams (UCLH Research Director and UCLH BRC Director), providing leadership to the Research Directorate including the UCLH/UCL Joint Research Office, and all the partnership’s National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) infrastructure, including the NIHR UCLH Biomedical Research Centre and Clinical Research Facility.

Nick said: “I’m delighted to be appointed Chair of UKRD and continue to work with members of the UKRD Leadership Team to influence positive change in the NHS R&D system.”
