UCL and Takeda collaboration research posts

The BRC, UCL and the Queen Square Dementia Biomedical Research Unit are collaborating with global pharmaceutical company Takeda Cambridge to create research posts.

The research posts will focus on identifying and validating target genes for neurodegenerative disease.

Expressions of interest (EOI) are invited from research programmes that address:

  • organelle biology – all applications welcome but particularly encouraged are those that focus on biology central to proteostasis and cellular energetics
  • the role of neuroinflammatory processes in neurodegenerative disease.

This call is not disease specific and projects should focus on mechanistic approaches that:

  • focus on identification of genes or signalling pathways that modify processes affecting neuronal health
  • reveal novel targets AND/OR Facilitate validation of target
  • consider access to and use of human tissues
  • utilise mammalian systems only.

The collaboration will run for a three year period in the first instance and projects are likely to involve one postdoctoral post with consumables for up to 3 years. It is expected that PhD positions will be added subsequently.

Applications involving multiple PIs or cross-departmental collaborations are strongly encouraged. Please note only UCL research programmes can apply.

The deadline for submissions of EOI is 26 November 2014. Proposals should be submitted to Dr Denise Goldman d.goldman@ucl.ac.uk
