Infrastructure & Organisation

The programme benefits from vital interfaces with core UCL and UCLH infrastructure, including the Hatter Cardiovascular Instittue, the UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Science, the UCL Cardiovascular Network and the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health. Other major strengths include the joint Yale-UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Science and the new Prevention and Outcomes Unit and Genetic Epidemiology group. The programme also supports the Wolfson Drug Discovery Unit, part of the world-leading Centre for Amyloidosis and Acute Phase Proteins.

The Hatter Cardiovascular Institute

The Hatter Cardiovascular Institute is a translational centre: taking developments in experimental basic science in the laboratory through to treatments for patients in the clinic. Researchers have within UCL a range of world-class clinical services through which to recruit patients for trials.

Institute for Cardiovascular Science

The UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Science  aims to be a centre of excellence in pioneering novel, integrative strategies in preventative and therapeutic cardiovascular medicine. The institute brings together basic and clinical scientists from UCL and clinicians from UCLPartner hospitals.

UCL Cardiovascular (CV) Network

UCL has one of the largest cardiovascular research communities in the country. The aim of the UCL CV network is to enable better inter- and intra- departmental collaborations and provide a more investment friendly and efficient environment. To facilitate greater collaboration the network hosts 3-4 meetings a year with speakers invited from the full range of cardiovascular disciplines from across the university. Previous meetings have been a great success, allowing new networks in researchers to develop.  We hope that the better collaborative environment will help propel UCL cardiovascular research into a bright future.

The Institute of Sport, Exercise & Health

The Institute of Sport, Exercise & Health  is an international hub for clinical and academic investigations in sport, exercise medicine and sports injury rehabilitation. The institute is a partnership between the British Olympic Association, the English Institute of Sport, HCA International, UCL and UCLH and part of the National Centre for Sport & Exercise.
